Overview

Herder is a small activity voting and scheduling tool. This policy explains what information Herder collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you. Herder is not intended for sensitive, confidential, medical, legal, financial, employment, or emergency planning.

Information Collected

Herder may collect the following information when you use the service:

• Activity details you create, such as titles, descriptions, voting options, dates, and settings.
• Responses you submit, including display name, votes, availability, timezone, and defer choices.
• Account information if you sign up, including name, email address, password hash, and session data.
• Support messages you send through the contact form or by email.
• Basic technical information used for security and operation, such as IP address, cookies, and timestamps.

How Information Is Used

Herder uses information to operate the service, including to:

• Create, display, edit, delete, and summarize activities.
• Remember responses, prevent accidental duplicate responses, and show activity history for signed-in users.
• Send account verification, support, contact confirmation, and activity-related emails.
• Protect the service, limit abuse, debug problems, and improve reliability.

Sharing

Herder does not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers that help run the app, including hosting, database, authentication, and email providers. Activity pages are unlisted, not private: anyone with an activity link may be able to view or submit information depending on that activity's settings.

Analytics

Herder uses privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics (Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights) to understand overall usage and performance, such as page views, referring sites, approximate region, and device type. These analytics do not use advertising cookies or build cross-site profiles of you. Herder also reports aggregate product counts (for example, totals of accounts, activities, and responses) to its operator.

Retention And Deletion

Account-owned activities are kept so they remain available in the creator's history unless deleted. Anonymous or account-less activities may be automatically removed after the retention period described in the app documentation. Creators can delete activities, and support requests for deletion or account help can be sent through the contact form.

Security

Herder uses reasonable technical safeguards, including HTTPS, hashed passwords, access tokens, rate limiting, and provider-managed infrastructure. No internet service is perfectly secure, so you should avoid submitting information that would create serious harm if disclosed.

Children

Herder is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not use the service.

Your Choices

You can choose not to create an account, use a limited display name, delete activities you created, or contact support about access, correction, or deletion. Some information may be retained as needed for security, backup, legal, or abuse-prevention purposes.
