Use Herder with your AI assistant

If you use an AI assistant that can already see your calendar, you can let it handle Herder for you. It can fill in your availability on an activity someone shared with you, or set up a new activity that offers exactly the times you are free.

1. Connect Herder to your assistant

Herder provides an MCP server. Add this address to your assistant as a custom connector:

• 1In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the address above, and connect. Other MCP-capable assistants take the same address as a remote MCP server.
• 2There is nothing to sign into and no API key. Herder does not ask your assistant for your calendar — your assistant already has that, and keeps it.

Custom connectors need an assistant that supports them — on Claude that means a Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise plan. Everything on Herder works perfectly well without any of this; the connector is just a shortcut.

Without an account everything still works — your assistant just gets tokens to keep track of. With one, activities and responses it makes are linked to your account: they show up in your dashboard, you can manage them from any device, and updates automatically find your existing response instead of needing an edit token.

• 1Sign in, open your dashboard, and under Connect your AI assistant create an access token. It is shown once — copy it then.
• 2Give it to your assistant: "Here is my Herder account token — use it as account_token whenever you create or respond to Herder activities."
• 3The token can act as you on Herder (create activities, respond, read your results) — nothing else: it can never change your password or email, or delete your account. Revoke it from the dashboard at any time.

What your assistant can do

• Read an activity — the options up for a vote, which days are on offer, and who has responded so far.
• Submit or update your response — your availability and your votes. It can come back and change them later.
• Create an activity — with the days and times you choose, and an optional vote attached. You get a share link back.
• Read the results — the leading option and the time that suits the most people.

Worth knowing

• Your assistant sees exactly what anyone holding the link sees — nothing more. It cannot browse or search other people's activities.
• Your response is visible to everyone with the link, so it is worth asking your assistant to show you the availability it worked out before it submits.
• Results stay private on the same terms as the website: if the creator hid them until the activity ends, your assistant cannot see them early either.
• When it responds or creates something, Herder hands your assistant a token it must keep in order to edit that response or manage that activity later. Treat those tokens like the links themselves — anyone holding one can use it.
